In this crazy time, we have to get creative! Many of us have had to cancel or postpone life’s celebrations…weddings, showers, birthday parties, graduations and more. My heart breaks for them!

Being a party supply designer, I couldn’t let my son’s 11th birthday go by without something! He was SO bummed about his laser tag birthday party being cancelled…I wanted to lighten his spirits. So I got the idea from my priest (really!!…he said it as an example of us “coming together” in his homily! Maybe devine intervention…Ha!). So I got online, and sure enough…this was a thing!

I quickly came up with an invite and texted it to all our Mom friends, as I wanted this to be a surprise! Within in minutes, I received confirmation that they all were willing to drive by! I was so excited and happy for my little man!

Next, I got busy making party favors (of course I have to have party favors!). Luckily, I had already shopped for the goodies, as they were going to be for a classroom treat to take to school. All products (bouncy balls, Tootsie Rolls and bubble gum) were purchase at Target. And I ordered the cello bags from Amazon.

Note: Party favors were made with cleaned ingredients and with gloves for assembling. When I handed them out, I was wearing surgical gloves. I, also, asked first. They were able to decline if it made them uncomforatble to take one.

Next I decorated the sidewalk and driveway. I found 12 Piece Sidewalk Chalk for $1 at the Target Dollar section. I saw some at Walmart as well for .98. A bigger box with more colors, is available at Target.com for $4.99 here. I had balloons attached to the mailbox, as well.

And they came!! We had about 15 cars (and bikes!) come by within an hour. Something so simple has brought SO much joy to our family! Many of the families said it was the highlight of their day as well. I hope by sharing this, you are inspired to hold a drive-by birthday…or any celebration! Great for the young and old! Wishing you a happy, safe and healthy stay-in-place season to you all!
